Background

Council received grant funding of $418,235 from the NSW Government under the 'Our Region, Our Voice' Regional Youth Investment Program in December 2022 to construct a pump track in Jerrabomberra.

In May 2023 a notification was delivered to nearby residents advising that the proposed pump track was to be constructed at Jerrabomberra Creek Park.

Council received feedback from the community about the proposed location at Jerrabomberra Creek Park.

At the 9 August meeting Council awarded the tender to construct the pump track and resolved to undertake community engagement to finalise a preferred location and report back to Council.

During August 2023 we held a community workshop to discuss the location and the design for the pump track. An online and paper survey were also available.

At the Council meeting on 25 October 2023, Council approved a recommendation about the location of the pump track to adopt Jerrabomberra Creek Park, on Waterfall Drive, as the location for the construction of the pump track.

The report in the business paper to the 25 October meeting included an engagement report which includes the submissions made during the August 2023 consultation period. You can download these reports below:

Engagement Report - October 2023

At the 25 January 2024 meeting, Council rescinded the decision to locate the pump track at Jerrabomberra Creek Park and resolved to undertake further investigation and community consultation on all possible locations within Jerrabomberra.

In March 2024,  we held three workshops in mid-February at the Jerrabomberra Community Centre, to explore possible locations for the site and discuss the essential and desirable criteria for the site. 69 people in total attended the workshops. Following the workshops, a digital survey and mapping tool were opened on our Your Voice page. There were 445 visitors to the page, 212 people visiting multiple pages and/or downloading a document. Of those, 39 contributors dropped a ‘pin’ using the map tool and 38 contributors completed the survey. Two submissions were also received by email.

Identifying essential and desirable criteria for the site has allowed us to compare the locations. A summary of the feedback that we received and how the proposed locations compare is now available here(PDF, 713KB)The feedback we received from the community about the essential and desirable criteria and locations suggested that David Madew Oval and Jerrabomberra Park/Stockyard Reserve be explored as the potential sites for the pump track.

At the meeting of 24 April, Council endorsed David Madew Oval as the location for the pump track. Common Ground will prepare a design suitable for David Madew Oval.

After site investigations and design work around underground services, Common Ground began construction of the pump track on Monday 4 November 2024.
