Economic Development

The Economic Development team at QPRC fosters an operating environment for businesses that supports innovation, growth, prosperity and sustainability. Through collaboration with government, industry and other stakeholders, we seek to ensure a thriving local economy that drives positive outcomes for our community.

Business Support

We deliver a range of services to help local businesses grow and succeed:

  • Business liaison: Stay informed about local projects and activities through our monthly e-newsletter.
  • Data and insights: Access valuable market research tools like .ID Economic Profile and our annual CBD Snapshots to make informed decisions.
  • Advocacy: We represent your interests to other levels of government, funding organisations and within QPRC.
  • Investment attraction: We promote our region's strengths to encourage business growth and relocation, while championing the benefits of living and working in Queanbeyan-Palerang.
  • Industry development: We run, and work with other providers, to support a program of capacity-building workshops throughout the year, and offer a range of industry development resources.
  • Place management: We enhance the liveability of our town centres, increasing foot traffic and commercial activity through our place management program.
  • CBD support: Our annual 'Shop & Win' program in Bungendore and Braidwood promotes local producers, retailers, and service providers.
  • Grant Assistance: Access Grant Guru and receive support for your grant applications.
  • Braidwood Saleyards: We operate the saleyards to support our agricultural sector and bring together primary producers from across the region.

Tourism

QPRC’s economic development team delivers a comprehensive tourism program, including:

  • Strategic destination development: We aim to develop our towns, and the surrounding region, as a sustainable, growing tourism destination. We work collaboratively with surrounding Councils to drive efficient outcomes.
  • Destination marketing: Through the Treasure Trail destination brand, we market our visitor experience offering across digital, print and broadcast channels, to select target markets in the ACT and NSW, with the objective of increasing visitor numbers, length of stay and expenditure.
  • Tourism product pipeline: We work with community groups and other government entities to progress pipeline project proposals for the visitor economy, such as the Yanaga (Capital to Coast) Trail, Monaro Rail Trail and the Molonglo Rail Trail.
  • Industry resources: A range of resources are available for our local tourism industry, including an image library to support our local businesses and media to promote our region.
