Overland water flooding on Wallace Street in Braidwood

Council has engaged consultants for a Major Overland Flow Investigation in Braidwood.

We are seeking community feedback in the form of photos, diagrams, sketches and/or descriptions of drainage and flooding patterns. The information will be used to inform the flood models that will be developed as part of the investigation.

Complete the form to provide information and photos at bit.ly/Bwd-Overland-Water

The purpose of the investigation is to understand the major overland flow flooding that happens when there is heavy rainfall over parts of the Braidwood township. It will also look at options to reduce the impact this has on the community.

The investigation will build on the results of the Braidwood Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan (completed in 2019). This study showed there were several significant major overland flow paths in the urban parts of Braidwood. The most noticeable is along Wallace Street during intense rainfall events.

The Braidwood Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan recommended Council undertake a more detailed assessment to look at major overland flows in Braidwood.

Provide information by completing the form at bit.ly/Bwd-Overland-Water or by email to floodplain@qprc.nsw.gov.au by Friday 9 August.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government.
