Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Council meeting of 26 March 2025.

  • Council heard from two members of the public who made presentations about an item on the agenda involving a development application at 142 and 164 Monaro Street, Queanbeyan
  • Council granted conditional consent for development application at 142 and 164 Monaro Street, Queanbeyan
  • Council noted the community comments and endorsed naming of the two new grass fields at the Bungendore Sports Hub the Anthony Rayner Field and Garry Cook Field
  • Council received information report about site inspection at 142 and 164 Monaro Street, Queanbeyan
  • Council expressed its deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims of the tragic nightclub fire in Kočani, North Macedonia and extends its support to the local Macedonian community during this difficult time. Council will write to Her Excellency Ms Biljana Stefanovska-Sekovska, Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to Australia, to convey Council’s condolences on behalf of our community.
  • Council endorsed the QPRC DA Action Plan and written response to the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces’ letter to address development assessment performance and achieving of Minister’s Expectations Order
  • Council will update membership on the Southern Regional Planning Panel to make Cr Broadbent a permanent expert member with Julie Costa, Director Development and Environment at Yass Council as alternate substitute. Council appointed Cr Preston, Cr Grundy and Cr Schweikert as permanent non-expert members who will rotate on the panel on an alphabetical and case-by-case basis. Cr Wilson will no longer be a member of the panel
  • Council endorsed the draft Community Strategic Plan 2042 for public exhibition for 42 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au, will receive the community engagement report and review submissions before endorsing
  • Council noted the need for a site compound for Monaro Street upgrade project and endorsed the use of 58-62 Morisset Street for this purpose, after which a feasibility study for activation of Mobile Food Van Hub will be received
  • Council endorsed the current four Directorate Organisational Structure for QPRC
  • Council endorsed naming the new bridge recently constructed on Wallaces Gap Road over Back Creek in Majors Creek the Ludwig Baumgardner Bridge
  • Council approved a Cultural Grant of $800 to the Queanbeyan Whites Rugby Union Football Club towards costs for Aboriginal-designed artwork on training shirts
  • Council endorsed the financial contributions from the 2024-25 budget allocation for s355 Committees totalling $20,000, including $14,900 for 13 different s355 committee projects and $5,100 towards the Burra Hall mains rewiring
  • Council endorsed the QPRC submission for the Transport for NSW Draft Southeast and Tablelands Strategic Regional Integrated Plan
  • Council endorsed policies for public exhibition at yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au: Privacy Policy and Management Plan; Contaminated Land Policy and Guideline; Backflow Prevention Policy; Sewer connection limit of council responsibility policy; and Restricted Funds Policy, with the Heritage Grant Program retained as an internally restricted fund. If no submissions are received, the policies will be adopted. Council will receive a report on options for using the balance of the internally restricted funds assigned to the Heritage Grants Program for heritage purposes.

  • Council received an information report about the Riverside Cemetery in Queanbeyan
  • Council received information report on councillor workshop on 19 March. Workshop included EvoEnergy five-year gas plan, Strategic Policy Reviews of Library Collections, Local Family History Collection, Asset Accounting, and 19-21 Gibraltar Street, Bungendore
  • Council will facilitate public information sessions for residents, State authorities representatives and Council to discuss biosecurity laws, policies and weed control measures and will review Council policies with feedback of residents, expert advice and legislation
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about the road from Hoskinstown to Reschs Creek
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about the Foxlow Bridge
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about illegal dumping of waste
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about public toilets
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about Council vehicle fleet emissions reduction
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about the long-term financial plan
