Here is the summary of the resolutions made at the Council meeting of 12 March 2025.

  • Council heard from a member of the public who made a presentation about expressions of interest for the Captains Flat containment cell
  • Council endorsed support for the ALGA’s 2025 federal election priorities, and their national Put Our Communities First advocacy campaign
  • Council received an information report with an update on expressions of interest for the Captains Flat containment cell
  • Council granted conditional consent for development application at 628 Northangera Road, Mongarlowe
  • Council endorsed the updated Memorandum of Understanding between Council and Abbeyfield for the Seniors Housing Project at 4-6 Majara Street, Bungendore to facilitate the development application process and expenditure of $500,000
  • Council authorised the reopening and dedication as a public road reserve of the previously closed portion of the northern portion of Majara Street
  • Council authorised the ceasing of the compulsory acquisition of 16 square metres of 29 Ellendon Street, Bungendore
  • Council approved projects for the Reinstatement of Bungendore Properties and new budget allocations
  • Council authorised the General Manager to investigate, through Bungendore real estate agencies, the current market value of 19-21 Gibraltar St, Bungendore and receive a report on these investigations. The report should include alternative options for the site. The community will be consulted about the future use of the site. The matter will be deferred to an in-person workshop before Council determines the future of the site at a subsequent Council meeting.
  • Council approved cultural grants of $1,000 for the Australia Nepal Friendship Society towards the Tihar Deusi Bhailo cultural event, $1,000 for Bungendore Quilters for reusable promotional sales for the Bungendore Quilting Exhibition, and $3,000 for Jerrabomberra Residents’ Association for sound, stage and lighting for 2025 Carols@Jerra
  • Council endorsed a new licence agreement with the NSW Scout Association over 7 Firethorn Place, Jerrabomberra for a further five-year term
  • Council endorsed the draft Swimming Pool Inspection Program 2025 and will place it on public exhibition for 28 days at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council endorsed policies for public exhibition at yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au: Competitive Neutrality, Bin Inspection & Contamination, Public Art, Council-Related Development Application Conflict of Interest, Guidelines on when DA’s should be referred to Council
  • Council adopted the following policies after submissions were received during public exhibition: Councillor Expenses and Facilities, Councillor Induction and Professional Development, Boundary Fences Adjoining Council Public Reserves, Social Media
  • Council received an information report with an update on the Ellerton Drive Noise Assessment
  • Council received an information report about the watermain replacement options for Monaro Street
  • Council received an information report with an update on the 2025 Queanbeyan-Palerang Heritage Awards
  • Council received the Resolution Action Sheet
  • Council received an information report on councillor workshop held on 5 March. Workshop included preliminary QSTP Health Check Findings, Strategic Policy review, and the Community Strategic Plan
  • Council noted the minutes of the QPRC Sports Council on 3 February 2025
  • Council will advertise for 28 days its intention to donate $3,000 towards the costs incurred for reprinting 350 copies of the book Tale of Two Cities by Mark Butz
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about shade sail prioritisation
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about the Reschs Creek Bridge project
  • Council received report with answers to questions with notice about accessible car parking in Braidwood
  • Council received report with questions with notice about the Long Term Financial Plan, with answers to be provided at a future meeting
  • Council received report with questions with notice about Public Toilets with answers to be provided at a future meeting
  • In closed session, Council awarded the contract for the construction of Macs Reef Road and Bungendore Road Intersection Safety Upgrade works to Cord Civil Pty Ltd for $1,574,589
