  • Council heard from four members of the public who made presentations about items on the agenda including the Bungendore High School State Significant Development Application; Freebody Oval renovation; and naming of the Council Chambers.
  • Council heard from a member of the public who made a presentation about a petition in regard to the proposed Vikings Club in Jerrabomberra
  • Council, on behalf of LGNSW President Cr Darriea Turley AM, presented the Local Government NSW 30 years Certificate of Service Award, medallion and pin to Mrs Sue Whelan OAM
  • Council will advise the NSW Department of Planning that Council maintains its objections to the proposal for the development of the new Bungendore High School, noting that satisfactory resolution of these items may mean Council withdraws its objection. Council will forward the formal submission to the department and provide a copy of its recommended conditions of consent.
  • Council provided in-principle support for the Freebody Oval Renovation and will consider a contribution of $125,000 at the first Quarterly Budget Review
  • Council endorsed the naming of the new Council Chambers as the WB Freebody Chambers and will place the proposal on public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au and adopt the name if no objections received
  • Council will lodge a submission with Heritage NSW on the 15 Year Management Review of Braidwood and its Setting State Heritage Register Listing Milestone 3 Report
  • Council approved the progress of the draft planning proposal to reclassify lots at 88 Wallace Street and 41 Ryrie Street from community land to operational land and will forward the proposal to the department requesting Gateway determination. Council will request delegation of plan making powers for this planning proposal, undertake agency consultation and public exhibition as required by the Gateway determination and if no objections received, finalise the making of the QPRLEP 2022
  • Council adopted Balmain View as proposed name for private road off Mayfield Road, Larbert and Kurraducbidgee as proposed road name for use in the area subject to Batemans Bay Local Aboriginal Lands Council assessment of suitability
  • Council authorised General Manager to enter into a Power Purchase Agreement for supplying 100% renewable energy to Council’s eligible small sites
  • Council endorsed the draft Cat Containment Policy and will place on public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au for an extended period of 42 days
  • Council endorsed the draft Solid Fuel Heater Policy, with some amendments to the Scope in the current draft, and will place on public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au for an extended period of 42 days
  • Council endorsed a list of major infrastructure projects and mobile black spot priorities to be presented for funding in advance of the 2024 federal election
  • Council will write to Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, requesting that $65 million commitment from Australian Government for Dunns Creek Road is allocated to construct Stage 1 and establish a funding agreement. Council endorsed the engagement of Transport for NSW to undertake the necessary business case and strategic work for Dunns Creek Road Stage 1
  • Council will cap fees to Capital Football at $4,750 for the finals held at the Regional Sports Complex and Riverside Oval in 2024
  • Council will cap fees to the Canberra Region Rugby League at $4,200 for the finals held at Seiffert Oval in 2024
  • Council approved relocation of the Bungendore Aquatic Centre to its original proposed northern site adjacent to the netball courts at the Bungendore Sports Hub
  • Council will defer the marketing of Council properties in Crawford Street until the new Development Control Plan and Local Environmental Plan is completed and seek expressions of interest for commercial lease of 256 and 262 Crawford Streets
  • Council endorsed the General Manager executing the Memorandum of Understanding with the CRJO for renting hot desks in the Nellie Hamilton Centre
  • Council endorsed the fit-out of the Nellie Hamilton Centre ground floor, with a public meeting room, small quiet workspace areas and a dedicated area for Queanbeyan Library community programs and activities. Council will receive a cost estimate and consider the inclusion of a budget to progress the project at the first Quarterly Budget Review
  • Council received information report about the Affordable Housing Strategy and progress of the implementation plan
  • Council received information report about the Ellerton Drive Extension Working Group
  • Council received information report about the Bungendore Bulk Water Pipeline Project
  • Council received information report about the Jerrabomberra Pump Track project
  • Council received information report about the Nellie Hamilton Centre project
  • Council received information report with response from letters sent to the Prime Minister and Premier of NSW about ending violence against women
  • Council received information report with response to letter sent to the Minister for Health and Regional Health about tobacconist and vape stores in NSW
  • Council received information report about the Lead Working Group with response from the NSW Premier about the department’s involvement in the group
  • Council received information report about Councillor Workshops held between 18 July to 7 August including: Community Strategic Plan 2025 – Engagement Report and Summary; QPRC Sports Courts Audit Report; Nellie Hamilton Centre Update – Building completion and certification; Leases and Library Space; NSW Heritage Management Review Milestone 3 Report Braidwood – Draft Council Submission; and Bungendore High School SSD – Draft Council Submission
  • Council will consider a bulk hard waste drop off service for non-urban residents in the upcoming review of the Waste Management Strategy
  • Council will extend the hours of the Braidwood, Bungendore and Queanbeyan Libraries for two evenings each week for the use of senior secondary school students from 2 September to 8 November as a trial for 2024 and receive a report on the uptake
  • Council congratulated Monique Suraci on her success to date and will host a reception in recognition of her sporting excellence and gratitude for her representation of our region
  • In closed session, Council authorised General Manager to negotiate acquisition of rear portion of 15 Gibraltar Street, Bungendore for car parking and will classify the portion as Operational Land if required
  • In closed session, Council awarded the contract for the design and construction of the Jembaicumbene Bridges Replacement to HD Civil for $3,089,768 and authorised General Manager to refine project scope and negotiate final contract value
