Here is the summary of this week's Council meeting, the last of the current term of Council.

  • Council received an information report about the ACT-NSW Urban Potable Water Negotiations
  • In line with the Local Government Act, Council will refer the 2023-24 Financial Statements to audit, noting they have been prepared in accordance with the Act, Australian Accounting Standards and Local Government Code. Council notes that the financial statements present fairly the operating result and financial position and delegates authority to sign the Statement by Councillors and Management, and to issue the statements once audit report is received
  • Council endorsed the draft Memorandum of Understanding between Council and Abbeyfield to facilitate spending of the $500,000 internal reserve, and authorises the General Manager to make minor amendments in line with the terms and intent
  • Council endorsed the names Malian Park, Onyong Lookout and Umbe-Yukeemruk Park in Jumping Creek and will place them on public exhibition at https://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au
  • Council declined to accept any of the tender submissions for works proposed at Bungendore Sports Hub under Request for Tender 2024-03 and endorsed a review of the scope of works and issuing of a new Request for Tender
  • Council adopted the Property Information Package Fee of $500 and will update the QPRC 2024-25 Fees and Charges
  • The Register of Annual Returns of Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest and Other Matters by Councillors and Designated Staff for the period ending 30 June 2024 was tabled
  • Council received an information report about virtual fencing for wildlife road collisions
  • Council received an information report with a letter of response from Minister for Local Government about cost shifting by State and Federal Governments to Councils
  • Council noted the minutes of the Cultural Development and Public Art Advisory Committee on 13 June 2024, and accepted the artwork donation from the Queanbeyan Art Society: ‘All that Glitters’ by John Bosler
  • In closed session, Council awarded the contract for the construction of a new box culvert crossing at Mulloon Creek on Mulloon/Manar Road to A&J Power Formwork and Civil Pty Ltd for $460,878
  • In closed session, Council endorsed the General Manager’s Performance Review Panel Report for the Annual Performance Review 2023-24 and Performance Agreement with Council’s Strategic Objectives and Priorities for 2024-25
  • Council heard from retiring Councillor, Michele Biscotti who reflected on what lead him to originally run for Council and his time as an elected representative on Council
