Road closures and detours
Araluen Road between Majors Creek Road and Monga Lane will be closed from 10 February 2025. Local residents will be able to access their properties.
Motorists should follow the detour route along Monga Lane and Majors Creek Road. Detours are anticipated to add approximately 3-8 minutes to overall travel time.
Motorists should also be aware that Reidsdale Road is currently closed at Bedding Ground Creek bridge and the detour is via Monga Lane. The new Bedding Ground Creek bridge is expected to be open to traffic in early March.
About this project
We have received $4,636,500 as part of the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Bridges program to replace the series of three timber bridges within 130m of each other on Araluen Road.
The Jembaicumbene bridges are between 6.6m and 37.2m in length and will be replaced with concrete structures. This will reduce maintenance costs, improve resilience to natural disasters and fire, improve safety and usability by increasing bridge widths from single-lane to two lanes. The bridges are showing signs of failure and their replacement will provide reliable heavy vehicle passage.
The works include:
- Demolition of the three timber bridges
- Construction of three concrete bridges
- Lifting bridge heights
- Increased bridge lane capacity
- Upgrading road approaches.
Early site establishment works begin in early February.
