Join us for our annual Reconciliation Walk on Tuesday 28 May.
We will gather at Marj Christian Park on Trinculo Place at 9.30am before walking to the Sunken Gardens in Queanbeyan Park.
Younger participants, below Year 2, are meeting at Queanbeyan Park for some cultural activities. If you have young children, you are welcome to join us at Queanbeyan Park. Please note that that limited parking will be available, with some areas set aside for bus drop off. They will be joined by students from Year 3 and above, and other members of the community, who will be walking from Trinculo Place.
You can also show your support by standing and cheering the walk along the southern side of Monaro Street. If you'd like to participate, but feel the walk might be too difficult, you can meet us at Queanbeyan Park.
Road closures
From 9.30-11.30am, there will be road closures or changes to traffic conditions along Monaro Street between Atkinson Street and Campbell Street (including Farrer Place), Crawford Street intersections with Monaro Street, Lowe Street from Rutledge St along to Queanbeyan Park, Collett Street intersection with Monaro (no left turn onto Monaro) and at the Campbell Street/Cameron Road intersection. There will be detour signage and traffic control in place.
Please be aware that if you are parked on Monaro Street during the closure, you will not be able to move your car while the walk is underway.
National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June 2024 and is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will — and must — continue.
